Don’t Look Down

For this project, I created a craft-driven visual identity built with creative coding, designed to translate the subject matter into a tactile, emotional experience.

The Brief:
Research revealed that children in the UAE were spending up to nine hours a day on their phones — a pattern linked to declining mental health, cognitive development issues, and lower academic performance. Awareness existed, but meaningful action had not yet followed.

The Concept:
To turn concern into movement, we partnered with Fixby to create Don’t Look Down — a 9-hour film that mimics the algorithmic loop of a teen’s daily doomscrolling. Screened at Roxy Cinema, the immersive format forced parents, teachers, and policymakers to confront the reality of excessive screen time.

The experience was interactive: viewers could end the film early using their own phones, a deliberate mechanic reinforcing the urgency for change. At the end, audiences were directed to endthescroll.com to vote in favor of smartphone restrictions in schools.

A pivotal moment arrived a few months later. Massive PR traction and over 500,000 “Yes” votes helped build the momentum that led the UAE’s Ministry of Education to officially ban smartphones during school hours — a decision that drove a surge in demand for Fixby’s lockable pouches as the leading solution to enforce the new law.
